I love Cacti<\/a> and use it all the time to monitor my system\u00a0performance. \u00a0Here are the few steps needed to turn SNMP on with in your Citrix XenServer hosts. \u00a0This document assumes you already have Performance Monitoring Enhancements Pack for XenServer<\/a>,\u00a0SNMP, and Cacti already installed and functioning on your network.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Edit:\u00a0\/etc\/sysconfig\/iptables
    \n<\/strong>Add the following lines AFTER<\/strong> the line “-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp –dport 5353 -d 224.0.0.251 -j ACCEPT”
    \n<\/span><\/span>-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp --dport 161 -j ACCEPT
    \n-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -p udp --dport 162\u00a0-j ACCEPT<\/code><\/li>\n
  2. Execute:\u00a0service iptables restart <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Edit:\u00a0\/etc\/snmp\/snmpd.conf
    \n<\/strong>Replace the community with your current SNMP community if you have one.
    \n# sec.name source community
    \ncom2sec notConfigUser default public<\/strong><\/code><\/li>\n
  4. Execute:\u00a0chkconfig snmpd on<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Execute:\u00a0service snmpd restart<\/strong><\/li>\n
  6. Test from another host:\u00a0snmpwalk -v 2c -c public xenserver.someplace.com<\/strong>
